wForum is my business and it’s my job as facilitator to create a safe and valuable learning environment. I know the potential power of a trusted group of peers but I also know the tension of a new group and the risk that comes with high expectations.
The risk in wForum is that no one knows how the group will develop. Will you find common ground in a group of women with such different backgrounds and experiences? Who will connect with whom and what will you learn in this intimate environment?
Connection, learning and inspiration – these are high aspirations. But it doesn’t take a complicated philosophy or approach to achieve our purpose. It’s fascinating and beautiful to me how perfect strangers can resonate deeply with each other when the conversation isn’t trivial or superficial.
The special magic of wForum is best described by the gratitude a woman feels when she realizes she is not alone, that her concerns are relevant and others can relate to her experience. When that moment occurs, she recognizes that she has all the answers she needs within her.
The Dalai Lama says, “There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart, is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”
This is the purpose and potential of wForum – warmth and kindness within the group and a mindset in which our own brain and our own heart is our temple.
